BOOOOOO!

Made you jump, right? I know it’s been a while; how have you been?

I felt I had to post before the August 16th, which would have been the anniversary of my last post. Yes, ANNIVERSARY. Gak.

So instead of boring you with my whole year in review in one post (which would undoubtedly send you directly to sleep), I am doing a little giveaway in return for your suggestions. I would like some recommendations for some smart, witty YA novels. Something along the line of the movie Easy A. And if you haven’t seen Easy A, you should. Seriously. Watch it now.

In return for your recommendations, I will randomly pick a commenter to receive some swag, to include a lovely book by Laura Kinsale (Seize the Fire), along with an old copy of Jane Austen’s Persuasion (printed in 1947), and a 1901(ish) copy of Dickens’ David Copperfield, both from the motherland (mine). There may also be European chocolate, a notebook and a fountain pen involved. Who knows?

USA mailing addresses only please, so I may save myself from being bankrupted at the Post Office.

Later posts will touch on some of the exciting things that happened in the last 361 days, including a visit to the White House, getting a critique (gulp) from the spectacular Jen Nadol, the DFW Writers’ Conference and Susan Dennard and Sarah J Maas’ incredible writers’ masterclass.

So please – let me know how you’ve been doing, and give me some YA book love.

Well, happy almost anniversary… I am glad to hear from you.

I don’t read much YA, so I don’t have an option for you.

I loved the Brandon Sanderson: Mistborn series, but it’s in the fantasy genre. It’s very unique and holds up to any series I have read.

    Hey chicka!

Here are some YA's I've tackled lately (and some old faves):

The Ruby Oliver series, by E Lockhart
The Mortal Instruments series, by Cassandra Clare (I'm on book 4 now)
The Graveyard Book, by Neil Gaiman
The Carrie Diaries, by Candace Bushnell (pre-Sex & the City Carrie Bradshaw)
Books of Ember series, by Jeanne DuPrau
Stargirl & Love, Stargirl, by Jerry Spinelli
The Uglies series, by Scott Westerfeld
    Airhead, by Meg Cabot

Some I liked, some I LOVED.

I'd have to say one of my favorites is The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart. Perhaps Beauty Queens by Libba Bray might fit your requirement? I've only just started it but I love her books (as you know). And I should have about 20 other recs for you but all my books are still packed away…. 😦
